NETWORKING

Here at EZ we support two distinct regimes of technology, IT devices and
Network devices, and although the two are often construed as being the same, they are not classed the same!

Having said that, there is a little cross over in the networking device arena as the introduction of Telephony devices has had a greater impact on that convergence, typically the PC or Server was traditionally classed as an end device, hence it was an IT device, Firewalls, Routers along with Switches were network devices, but with the introduction of Telephony, the telephony device has been combined within networking devices.

So if you need support for a PC, Laptop or Server then choose the EZ – ITsupport options, or choose an appropriate option button below for Internet or Telephony services.

Broadband

The term Broadband can can be applied to many technologies as it has a broader general meaning, but if we refer to it within the Telecommunications arena, then broadband is a wide bandwidth data transmission media, which can concurrently transmit and receive Data, Voice, Video and frequencies of different types.

Originally used using coaxial cable, then optical fiber, and later used on other copper media’s such as in telephone networks (POTS), using twisted pairs and known as DSL or ADSL, also used to describe Wireless broadband. As such many suppliers use the term to describe their deployments, but at EZ we always use a dedicated physical line (where ever possible), the reason is that as a fixed media it is not susceptible to outside or external conditions, this method provides the maximum connectivity benefits, but generally is more costly to use as the physical media (Co-Ax, Fiber, Twisted-Pair) has to be initially physically installed. Other deployments by suppliers can vary from physical media (Copper, Fiber), to Wireless (or Microwave), Lasers and Cellular, now whilst these deployments often initially produce similar results, in terms of speed and useability, non-wired media’s suffer the drawbacks of being dependent on ‘Line Of Sight’, and atmospheric conditions! As the term describes ‘Line Of Sight’ is basic to it’s functionality, if the transponder or dish (reflector) can not clearly see it’s destination, then performance will either be degraded or none existent, external factors being temporary obstructions, birds, bad weather, extremes in temperature and Electrical interference, as such it is not recommended for secure locations, as it’s traffic can easily be interrupted or captured, for hacking purposes.

WIFI

Using the term ‘Wireless’ is self explanatory, but it is generally used to describe a technology that replaces the need for wires, this means that it is used to describe not just Radio waves, but also (and may be wrongly) that of Optical wireless networks that utilize Lasers to transmit and receive data.

Being a ‘Line Of Sight’ media, it relies totally on that line of sight to maintain it’s usefulness, for with out total line of sight, it’s performance degrades, careful deployment can reduce the long term risks involved, when used externally as it is is subject to not only extreme weather conditions (very cold to very Hot), but also momentary one’s as well (heavy rainfall, heavy snow fall or hail), electrical interference and momentary obstructions (birds, planes, weather balloons), it also needs to be regularly maintained either annually or bi-annually, requiring re-alinement or checking, and cleaning, to maintain it’s full bandwidth.

Most people associate Wireless with the term WiFi, now whilst being almost the same, there is a distinct difference, WiFi deployments are generally internal by nature, generally being inside a building, hence it suffers the misfortune of suffering the degradations of the building, walls and objects within a room where it is deployed (reflections from metal objects, Pipe work, Filing cabinets are but two examples).

At EZ we are backed by a highly qualified and experienced team who can help, not only at the planning and deployment stages, but also in diagnosing WiFi issues, issues such as slow throughput, drop out, interference, and can at your request perform on the spot analysis, or produce a detailed report containing the issues found along with a recommended action in order to resolve those issues, so we are quite able to diagnose, recommend and rectify, both Internal and External Wireless issues.

Wireless or WiFi is not recommended as a primary method of communication to a site that has any secured facility, being prone to Interference and tampering means that communication can be easily disrupted, isolating on-site resources from acting, these being alarm systems, security personnel, remote access and surveillance (CCTV), not only leaving a site wide open to attack or entry, but also allowing easy interference or tampering of the actual data being transmitted, for illegal, personal or professional gains.

TELEPHONY

Telephony, the humble beginnings of the global communication era, from when we started interacting between ourselves locally and nationally using copper wires, to using Radio waves and Satellites to communicate globally, from telegraphy, to telephones (POTS), and ending with social media along with email and the internet.

Telephony in the modern world encompasses a very broad spectrum of products and services, since the inception of the telephone and the integration of the telephony service with the data service (i.e.VoIP), the divider between Voice and Data is now gone, as the one has now become the other as the signals travel the globe, yes we still hear analogue out of the ear piece of the phone, for we are human, but I suppose it will not be long before we are able to interface directly to future communication devices via an implanted chip or something!

Here at EZ we don’t profess to have that knowledge or capability (well not now, at this moment anyway, in the future maybe), but we are able to help with all stages in the planning and roll-out of any small or large deployments of VoIP Telephone devices and systems, being backed by a competent team of engineers who have many years of experience in this field and their qualifications are equally as impressive.

We can also help with deployments of modern enterprise solutions (or small business solutions), entrepreneurs who value and can see the full benefit of “Collaborative” or “Unified” communication systems, these fancy terms refer to a group of functions that allow you:

  • To make and receive calls using your mobile phone, as though you were in your local office (from all over the world, or just from the coffee shop down the road)
  • To receive your Telephone Voice messages as an email attachment (Voice Mail)
  • To send and receive Fax’s electronically, rather than to a physical device, or direct to your email
  • To interact with your local PC/Laptop to see who is calling you, and to answer or forward those calls accordingly (i.e. receptionist)
  • To interact with your local PC/Laptop to make or forward calls accordingly (i.e. receptionist)
  • To interact with systems in call center deployments

Yes, from a single telephone to a full blown ‘Call Center’, we are able to help, with planning, deployment or diagnosing/resolving a problem!
